You must read and understand the Safety Instructions document included with your product before proceeding with the installation. Improperly installed components are extremely dangerous and could result in severe and/or fatal injuries. If you have any questions about the installation of these components, consult a qualified bicycle mechanic. This document is also available on www.sram.com.
1. Follow the safety instructions listed here. Any failure to follow these safety instructions could cause you to crash while riding your bicycle, which could result in serious and/or fatal injuries.
2. Examine the product and make sure you understand how it works before going on the road or trail. Before use, put one foot on the ground and practice engaging and releasing from the pedal with the other foot. When learning to use your pedals, initially ride in open areas on level terrain.
3. ATAC cleats are only compatible with 2-bolt style shoes. ICLIC cleats are only compatible with 3-bolt style shoes. Only use TIME ATAC cleats with ATAC compatible pedals, and only use TIME ICLIC cleats with ICLIC compatible pedals.
4. Keep cleats and pedals free of dirt and debris and check the cleats periodically for wear. When the cleats are worn, replace them. After a fall or collision have your TIME pedals inspected for damage by your dealer.
These pedals are designed to disengage from the pedal when you rotate your foot approximately 15°. They will not release without input from the rider.
TIME pedals with titanium axles have a maximum rider weight of 90 Kg. (198 lbs.)

Note: The Left pedal can be identified by the small groove in the axle near the threads.
1. Apply grease to the pedal threads.
2. Install a washer between the crank arm and pedal.
3. Install the Left pedal by turning the axle counter-clockwise by hand. Install the Right pedal by turning the axle clockwise by hand.
4. Tighten the Left pedal by turning an 8 mm hex wrench clockwise from the back side of the crankarm. Tighten the Right pedal by turning the hex wrench counter-clockwise from the back side of the crankarm.
ICLIC Float Cleats and ICLIC Fixed Cleats both install in the same way.
ICLIC Float Cleats offer +/-5° of angular float and +/-1.25mm of lateral float.
ICLIC Fixed Cleats offer zero (0) degrees of heel float and no lateral float along the pedal axle.
ICLIC Cleats with 5° Float: Before installing the cleats, choose your desired Pedal Center distance. For the right-side shoe, install the cleat labelled 'R' for minimum Pedal Center, or install the cleat labelled 'L' for maximum Pedal Center.
Increasing Pedal Center can prevent the shoe from rubbing on the crankarm.
Note: Pedal Center Max varies according to spindle length.
Some shoes have a gap between the sole and the front of the cleat due to curvature of the sole. The included shim (A) should be installed to close gaps of approximately 1 mm.
1. Apply grease to the cleat screws.
2. Install the cleat, cleat washer, and loosely install the cleat screws.
3. Position the cleat in desired position and tighten the screws.
4. Tighten the cleat screws to the specified torque.
Longitudinal adjustment of the cleats: The mark "A" on the side of the cleat corresponds with the position of the pedal shaft when the cleat is engaged. In most cases, this mark must be located under the articulation point of the inner metatarsal ("ball of the foot").
Loosen the 3 cleat screws, then move the cleat forward or backward to the desired position, then tighten.
Engaging the pedal ("clipping-in") Place the front of the cleat into the hook at the front of the pedal then step down on the pedal to engage. There will be an audible "click" when the cleat is engaged.
Disengaging the pedal ("clipping-out") Rotate your heel away from the bike to release the cleat from the pedal. Release angle varies based on cleat selection or orientation.
Engage your foot to the pedal and go forward a few meters. Make sure your heels do not touch the chainstays or crankarms, and the movement is as natural as possible, without forcing your ankle or knee. If this is not the case, modify the position of the cleat under the shoe.
The screw is factory-set to the vertical position (1), the lightest release tension. Turn the screw clockwise to position (2) for moderate release tension, and position (3) for strong tension release.
XPRO Only: If additional release force is desired, a second carbon blade can be installed on each pedal. Consult the XPRO Carbon Blade Addition section for more information.
The top cover (A) is removable for replacement or pedal service. Remove the 2 screws on the bottom of the pedal to remove part (A) and (B).
XPRO models have a bottom cover (B) to protect the carbon blade and improve aerodynamics. This can be removed if desired. Install the replacement covers, then install the screws and tighten to 1 N·m (9 in-lb).
Do not overtighten the screws when securing the top cover. If overtightened the screws can cause irreversible damage to the top cover and/or cause the ICLIC mechanism to stop functioning.
1. Adjust the tension adjust screw so that the slot is in the vertical (lightest tension) position or pointed to the 1 notch.
2. XPRO Only: Remove the 2 screws from the bottom of the pedal. Remove the bottom cover.
3. Viewing the top of the pedal, use a blunt plastic tool to carefully press the ratchet down until it locks in position.
Wear thick gloves. To avoid finger pinching keep fingers clear of the ratchet. Plastic tool is required for this step.
1a. XPRO: Insert a flat metal ruler underneath the blade in line with the carbon blade.
1b. XPRESSO: Insert a flat metal ruler underneath the blade 90° to the side. Rotate the ruler so that it is in line with the blade. Push the ruler under the blade approximately 2 cm.
2. Push down and forward on the blade and slide it along the ruler and out of the pedal. Remove the carbon blade and ruler.
To replace a damaged ratchet:
1. Push the tension adjust screw from the outboard side of the pedal to release the tension. Continue pushing to remove the screw from the pedal.
2. Pull the arch of the pedal from the main body.
3. Remove the ratchet from the pedal body.
Note: Covers are marked 'L' for left pedal and 'R' for right pedal.
4. Viewing the top of the pedal, install the ratchet tab into the slot behind the spindle and align the two pins in the groove at the back of the pedal.
5. Install the top cover to hold the ratchet in place.
6. Install the arch of the pedal and press the tension adjust screw into the pedal body from the inboard side.
7. Adjust tension screw to desired setting.
Make sure the tension adjust screw is set to the vertical (lightest tension) position or pointed to the 1 notch.
1. Adjust the tension adjust screw so that the slot is in the vertical (lightest tension) position or pointed to the 1 notch.
2. Place the replacement blade into the groove in the pedal body with the end of the blade against the tension adjust screw. To avoid damage to the replacement blade during installation only use a non-metallic tool. Simultaneously push down and forward on the new blade to slide it under the tension screw. The new blade will snap into place when it is in the correct position.
3. Push up on the carbon blade from the bottom of the pedal to guide it into the arch of the pedal body.
Use a plastic tool to guide the carbon blade into place. If using fingers to install carbon blade, wear thick gloves. Ensure fingers are clear of back of the blade during install.
1. Adjust the tension adjust screw so that the slot is in the vertical (lightest tension) position or pointed to the 1 notch. To increase the force required to disengage from the pedals, a second carbon blade may be installed:
2. Place the second blade on top of the existing blade with the end of the blade under the tension screw. Simultaneously push down and forward on the new blade to slide it under the tension screw. The new blade will snap into place when it is in the correct position.
TIME Road Pedal Carbon Blade Replacement Video
Use a plastic tool to guide the carbon blade into place. If using fingers to install carbon blade, wear thick gloves. Ensure fingers are clear of back of the blade during install.
Do not disassemble the axle or the engagement system of the pedals. Bearings are sealed and parts are rustproof. No bearing maintenance is necessary.
Keep your TIME pedals clean for optimal operation. Only clean with soapy water. Regularly remove the pedals from the cranks and grease the threads to prevent the axle seizing on the crankarm.
Do not use a pressure washer to clean.
Do not use acidic or grease dissolving agents. Chemical cleaners and solvents can cause permanent damage to the pedals.
Cleats wear and must be replaced regularly to prevent malfunction of the pedal-shoe assembly. Change cleats if release becomes harder or if walking pads (A) show signs of wear. To extend the life of cleats and pedals, regularly clean the cleat with a nylon brush to remove any debris. When changing cleats, refer to any lines printed on the soles for accurate alignment. Regularly check the cleat bolts to make sure the hex fittings are free of debris and not damaged.
