You must read and understand the Safety Instructions document included with your product before proceeding with the installation. Improperly installed components are extremely dangerous and could result in severe and/or fatal injuries. If you have any questions about the installation of these components, consult a qualified bicycle mechanic. This document is also available on www.sram.com.

Product model code and specification details can be identified with the serial number on the product. Model codes can be used to identify the product type, series name, model name, and product version associated with the production model year. Product details can be used to identify spare parts, service kit, and lubricant compatibility.
Model Code example: RD-XX-E-B1
RD = Product Type - Rear Derailleur
XX = Platform/Series - XX
B1 = Version - (B - Second generation, 1 - first iteration)
To identify the model code, locate the serial number on the product and enter it into the Search by Model Name or Serial Number field at www.sram.com/service.

Highly specialized tools and supplies are required for the replacement and maintenance of your SRAM components. We recommend that you have a qualified SRAM dealer work on your SRAM components.
SRAM components are designed for use only on bicycles that are pedal-powered or pedal-assisted (e-Bike/Pedelec).
SRAM eTap AXS systems have multi-shift functionality enabled by default. To protect the components from damage and preserve the warranty, use the SRAM AXS app to disable multi-shift functionality for SRAM eTap AXS systems installed on e-Bike/Pedelec style bicycles. To disable the Multi-shift function, navigate to the system’s Drivetrain Settings within the SRAM AXS app.
To qualify for the warranty, Eagle Chain, Cassette, and Rear Derailleur must be used with an SRAM Single Click shifter when used on e-Bike/Pedelec style bicycles.
The complete SRAM Warranty is available at www.sram.com.
If required, install a 1.85 mm cassette spacer as indicated by the chart.
*XS, XG, and PG call out different types of cassette construction. Identify your cassette and driver body type for spacer information.
**PG-720 DH cassette: If your cassette has a Spoke Guard Spacer, consult the PG-720 installation section.
Cassette lockring tool splines must fully engage the cassette lockring or locktube (XD). Splines must be between 7 and 8 mm in length for XD and XDR cassettes.
Use a tool with a guide pin to prevent damage to the components. If there is lateral play or movement in the cassette after tightening it, contact your SRAM dealer.
SRAM XD cassettes are compatible with the SRAM XD driver body and with the XDR driver body using a 1.85 mm spacer. SRAM XDR cassettes are compatible only with the SRAM XDR driver body standard.
1. Apply grease to the driver body threads.
2. Install the cassette onto the driver body until it is fully seated and the splines are engaged. Use a tool with a guide pin to tighten the cassette while applying inward pressure to the cassette.
3. Use a torque wrench to tighten the cassette.
Grease is critical to prevent the cassette from seizing onto the driver body. Make sure the hub driver body and cassette interface are free of dirt and debris.
If the cassette becomes difficult to rotate after a few turns, the cassette may be cross-threaded. Loosen the cassette and re-thread it onto the driver body.
Use a chain whip that matches the amount of speeds for your cassette.
1. Place a cassette chain whip on a cassette cog. Wrap the chain whip all the way around the cassette to hold the cassette in place.
2. Use a cassette lockring tool with a guide pin to loosen the lockring. Remove the cassette.
1. Place an 11 or 12 speed cassette chain whip on the cassette setup cog. Wrap the chain whip all the way around the cassette.
2. Use a cassette lockring tool with a guide pin to remove the cassette.
Do not use cassette pliers to remove the cassette. Failure to use the correct tool may result in damage to the cassette.
After the XS-1270 cassette has been removed 5 times, you must apply new Threadlocker 243, or equivalent, to the inner threads of the driver body prior to reassembly.
The inner threads of the driver body must have threadlocker factory installed or reapplied after the cassette is removed and installed five times. Make sure the inner threads of the driver body have threadlocker and are free of grease and dirt. Failure may result in the lockring becoming loose which may result in a loose cassette and cause a crash.
Make sure the hub driver body and cassette interface are free of dirt and debris.
Clean the cassette with biodegradable cleaners only. Rinse thoroughly with water and allow the parts to dry, then lubricate the chain with chain lubricant. Lubricate regularly to extend the chain's service life.
CRASH HAZARD
Do not use alkaline or acidic solvents to clean the chain and cassette cogs. Do not soak or store the chain or cassette in any cleaning product. They will become brittle and can break under load, which can cause the rider to crash resulting in serious injury and/or death.
SRAM chains and cassettes are 100% recyclable metal.
